I was a huge fan of both of Brandi Carlile’s previous albums and this one is just as good if not better than the last. I love the combination of her soft yet sometimes raspy voice with fierce guitar strums and somber melodies. She is a singer-songwriter too so of course you have to give anyone who writes their own music extra credit nowadays since most of what you hear on the radio (which I avoid) is strictly musicians singing what somebody wrote for them. The melodies on this album are a bit more melancholy and soulful than her last album I think and as usual all the songs are completely relateable. The lyrics on Pride and Joy are deeply heartfelt and moving. I hope that she will continue making music for a long time to come. Definitely check it out.
